How business attraction drives investment, jobs, and innovation, fueling a city’s growth and long-term prosperity.

Attraction of a business investment project for the Town of Strathmore

A major accomplishment for me was initially leading and working with a team to create a strong business environment that attracted investment and secured a new business in the community. It took almost a year working together until they finally decided to plant roots. This $220M business investment created over 80 jobs and diversified the economy, complementing the local industry.

Business attraction is vital for Airdrie’s long-term sustainability, building community wealth. By diversifying the tax base, the city can reduce the financial burden on residents while generating stable revenues to fund infrastructure and services. Attracting new businesses also creates local employment opportunities, strengthens the small business ecosystem, and positions Airdrie as a competitive, innovative community where people want to live, work, and invest.

By working with regional partners, targeting specific industries, scaling up to be competitive with site selection, and providing a strong value-added proposition, Airdrie can be home to future innovative businesses as a resilient ecosystem.
